Estos incrementos de demanda han repercutido sobre los mercados de energ\u00eda con importantes subidas en el precio que han superado ampliamente las previsiones.<\/p>\n<p>La ola de fr\u00edo de origen siberiano que azotaba los pa\u00edses de Europa del este la semana anterior lleg\u00f3 a la pen\u00ednsula ib\u00e9rica el pasado mi\u00e9rcoles 18, y llev\u00f3 los term\u00f3metros m\u00e1s de 6\u00b0C por debajo de las temperaturas habituales por estas fechas. La temperatura media peninsular se mantuvo por debajo de los 3\u00b0C durante dos d\u00edas, hasta el jueves 19. La ca\u00edda de las temperaturas ha venido acompa\u00f1ada de vientos considerables y adem\u00e1s importantes precipitaciones en la mitad sur de la pen\u00ednsula. El d\u00eda m\u00e1s fr\u00edo fue el mi\u00e9rcoles 18 donde la temperatura media de Espa\u00f1a peninsular fue de 2,6\u00b0C. En comparaci\u00f3n con la \u00faltima ola de fr\u00edo importante, del invierno de 2012, las temperaturas que se registraron fueron parecidas, pero en ese caso, \u00e9stas permanecieron en los term\u00f3metros durante m\u00e1s d\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p>Las bajas temperaturas han llevado consigo un aumento notable de la <strong>demanda de electricidad<\/strong>. El pico de potencia instant\u00e1nea se produjo el mi\u00e9rcoles 18 a las 20:20 con 41.217&nbsp;MW. Esta potencia no lleg\u00f3 a superar el m\u00e1ximo registrado durante la \u00faltima ola de fr\u00edo en 2012 que fue de 43.527&nbsp;MW, y se encuentra bastante lejos del r\u00e9cord de potencia hist\u00f3rica conseguido en diciembre de 2007, 44.876 MW, en un contexto de actividad econ\u00f3mica muy distinto y en plena expansi\u00f3n de los ciclos combinados.<\/p>\n<p>En cuanto a la <strong>demanda de gas<\/strong>, las previsiones del operador del sistema gasista ENAG\u00c1S planteaban una situaci\u00f3n \u201cexcepcional\u201d al preverse la superaci\u00f3n del consumo m\u00e1ximo de este invierno, hasta entonces de 1.445&nbsp;GWh registrado el 14 de diciembre, por lo que el operador recurri\u00f3 a gas almacenado para cubrir el aumento de la demanda.
