According to the data published by the National Institute of Statistics of Spain (INE, for its acronym in Spanish) in the <strong>Flash Estimate of the quarterly GDP<\/strong> for the second quarter of the current year, in the first half of 2017 the GDP has grown by 0.1% over the first half of 2008.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aleasoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170816-AleaSoft-Gross-domestic-product-GDP-graph.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8724 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/aleasoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170816-AleaSoft-Gross-domestic-product-GDP-graph.jpg\" alt=\"Gross domestic product (GDP)-Graph\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aleasoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170816-AleaSoft-Gross-domestic-product-GDP-table.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8724 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/aleasoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170816-AleaSoft-Gross-domestic-product-GDP-table.jpg\" alt=\"Gross domestic product (GDP)-Table\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Gross Domestic Product of Spain. Seasonal and calendar effect adjusted data.<br \/>\nData source: INE (National Institute of Statistics of Spain).<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>An analysis of the <strong>GDP components<\/strong> shows that there has been an increase of 30.7% in the <strong>exports<\/strong> component in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period of year 2008. However, other components have dropped in the first quarter of 2017 with respect to the first quarter of 2008, such as the <strong>household final consumption expenditure<\/strong> (\u20115.9%), the <strong>gross fixed capital formation<\/strong> (\u201127.0%) and the <strong>imports<\/strong> (-7.5%). The decline in the gas demand is determined by the decrease in the <strong>gas consumption for power generation<\/strong>, which has been 70.7% lower in the first half of year 2017 compared to the same period of year 2008. The <strong>conventional gas demand<\/strong>, which includes the domestic, commercial and industrial sector, has been 2.1% greater in the first six months of this year when compared to the same period of 2008, mainly due to an increase in the consumption of 5.6% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same quarter of 2008, coinciding with a decrease of the temperature of 0.4\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aleasoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170816-AleaSoft-Electricity-Gas-Demand-graph.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8724 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/aleasoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170816-AleaSoft-Electricity-Gas-Demand-graph.jpg\" alt=\"Electricity and Gas Demand-Graph\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aleasoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170816-AleaSoft-Electricity-Gas-Demand-table.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8724 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/aleasoft.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170816-AleaSoft-Electricity-Gas-Demand-table.jpg\" alt=\"Electricity and Gas Demand-Table\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Demand of electricity and gas in Spain. Total values in TWh.<br \/>\nData sources: REE and Enag\u00e1s.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the first half of 2017 the renewable technologies have increased their production, compared to the same period of 2008, to the detriment of the energy produced with some conventional technologies. The installed power capacity of the <strong>wind power<\/strong>, <strong>solar photovoltaic<\/strong> and <strong>solar thermal<\/strong> technologies have grown 6849\u00a0MW, 1225\u00a0MW and 2239\u00a0MW respectively in year 2017 with respect to the installed power capacity in 2008. In the case of the solar thermal power, in the year 2008 there were installed only 61\u00a0MW.
