Monthly webinar number 44
The webinar will analyse the evolution of the energy markets in the first four months of 2024, a year in which European electricity market prices have returned to the levels prior to the gas and COVID crises.
This spring, European electricity markets are registering low prices during many hours, mainly during the hours with more solar energy, and even zero and negative prices. This is a common situation in spring, but this year’s prices are generating some concern among producers, given that renewable energies continue to grow at an accelerated rate, while electricity demand does not recover.
This situation of low prices is most evident in the Iberian electricity market, which has registered negative prices for the first time in its history and has already had the lowest prices among the main European markets for more than ten weeks.
During the webinar, the impact this low price situation is expected to have on the profitability of renewable energy projects in the long term will be analysed.
The webinar will also analyse the vision of the future of the energy sector, which will undergo a significant transformation in the coming years and decades with the aim of achieving zero net carbon emissions and guaranteeing Europe’s energy autonomy.
The main vectors of the energy transition will be analysed, including renewable energies, demand, energy storage, green hydrogen production, electricity transmission and distribution grids and international interconnections, how they are developing and what is expected in the coming years and decades.
