This workshop aims to show the importance and usefulness of short term price forecasting when operating in the spot and futures markets.

Having short term forecasting is essential when preparing purchase and sale offers in the market. By having a vision of the expected prices as well as of the demand and the production by technologies, the offers can be adapted to maximise profits and optimise the production or supply of energy at the best price.

In the workshop, the use and advantages of the Alea Energy DataBase (AleaApp) for the compilation, visualisation and analysis of energy markets data will also be explained. With the Alea Energy DataBase (AleaApp), it is possible to analyse the evolution of the main variables of the electricity, futures, fuels, and CO2 emission rights markets, as well as other socioeconomic variables. It is also possible to make comparative graphs of multiple variables allowing detecting causalities and perform various operations in the series that facilitate the data analysis, such as the calculation of the moving average, or the change of the temporality, for example, from hourly series to weekly, fortnightly, monthly series, etc. All these characteristics make the Alea Energy DataBase (AleaApp) a very useful tool for the operation in the spot and futures markets.

The workshop will have a limited capacity and an invitation is required to participate.
