The fall in wind energy drives up European electricity market prices in the first week of May
In the first week of May, the weekly average prices of the main European electricity markets increased compared to the previous week and, in most cases, exceeded €100/MWh. The fall in wind energy production across much of Europe, rising demand and higher CO2 prices supported this trend. Spain and France set photovoltaic energy production records for a May day, while TTF gas and Brent futures declined.
Batteries gain strategic weight among large consumers and electro-intensive industries
The advance of renewables and the emergence of zero and negative prices are driving large consumers and electro-intensive industries to adopt a more active energy management approach. Batteries are consolidating as a strategic tool to optimise costs, reduce market exposure, take advantage of self-consumption and strengthen operational resilience.
April ends with price drops in European electricity markets, photovoltaic records and Brent at its highest level since August 2022
In April 2026, the monthly prices of most of the main European electricity markets fell compared to March and were, for the most part, below €85/MWh, with several markets at their lowest levels in recent months. Lower gas prices, weaker demand and increased solar production supported this trend, in a month that also brought historic photovoltaic energy production records and the highest average Brent futures price since August 2022.

Hybrid self-consumption systems with batteries
Other hybrid systems: hydro, reversible pumping, cogeneration
At AleaSoft Energy Forecasting we produce long-term forecasting reports for all European energy markets. In addition, new complementary services associated with these long-term reports are offered.
Medium-term price forecasting reports for European electricity markets are also available, providing a view of the prospects for the coming months and years, taking into account the most up-to-date economic evolution scenarios.
At AleaSoft Energy Forecasting we have developed Alea Energy DataBase (AleaApp), an online platform that compiles energy market data and macroeconomic data from the main European markets, helping and facilitating the digitalisation of companies. This tool allows data to be visualised and analysed through comparative variable charts, moving average calculation, changes in the time frequency of the series, among others.
On the AleaSoft Energy Forecasting website, the energy market observatories are available, allowing the evolution of the last weeks of the main European electricity markets to be analysed. This tool includes hourly, daily and weekly charts in which the information is updated daily.
