Norway - Nord Pool Market

Scientifically-backed forecasts for a sustainable energy transition

Ópera de Oslo

Norway’s electricity market is part of the Nordic market operated by Nord Pool, where Norway has been one of the founding members since the exchange’s creation in the 1990s. The country fully participates in the coupled day-ahead and intraday markets through the Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC) and the Single Intraday Coupling (SIDC). The Norwegian transmission system operator is Statnett, responsible for the operation of the transmission grid and the long-term planning of the national electricity system.

Norway boasts one of the cleanest electricity systems in the world, with over 90% of its generation coming from hydropower.

In the coming years, the Norwegian electricity system will play a key role in the European energy transition:

AleaSoft has been providing services for European electricity markets for 27 years, including Norway and Nord Pool. We provide price and demand forecasting, renewable generation and other key indicators, tailored to the needs of generators, suppliers, traders, investors and system operators.
