Solar energy maintains a strong production in the week of the autumn beginning

AleaSoft Energy Forecasting, September 27, 2022. In the fourth week of September, the solar energy production increased in most European markets. The registered values are far from the historical records for solar energy, but it stands out that this production is still important in the week that marked the beginning of autumn. The wind energy production decreased in all markets, but France registered the highest value since the beginning of April.

During the fourth week of September, the solar energy production increased by 31% in Portugal and 22% in Germany and Spain, when compared to the production registered during the previous week. On the other hand, in the Italian market it fell by 8.0% and in the French market there was only a slight decrease of 0.1%.

For the last week of September, the AleaSoft Energy Forecasting’s solar energy production forecasting indicates a decrease in production in Germany, Spain and Italy.

During the week of September 19, the wind energy production decreased in all European markets analysed at AleaSoft Energy Forecasting. The largest drop, of 62%, occurred in the German market. In the Iberian Peninsula and France the decreases were 34% and 33% respectively, while the production with this technology fell by 22% in the Italian market.

For the week of September 26, the AleaSoft Energy Forecasting’s wind energy production forecasting indicates a notable recovery in all analysed markets.

In the case of the French market, on September 26, the highest hourly wind energy production since April 7, of 11 377.50 MWh, was registered between 13:00 and 14:00.

Electricity demand

In the fourth week of September, the electricity demand decreased in the Italian and Spanish markets, by 8.1% and 3.9%, respectively. In contrast, in the Portuguese market, the demand increased by 1.8%. In the rest of the analysed markets, the variations compared to the previous week were lower than 1.0%. In Belgium, France and the Netherlands, the demand increased by 0.2%, 0.6% and 0.7% respectively, while in Great Britain and Germany there were decreases of 0.5% and 0.9% in each case.

For the week of September 26, according to the AleaSoft Energy Forecasting’s demand forecasting, the demand is expected to increase in most European markets.
