The Greece electricity market is operated by HENEX (Hellenic Energy Exchange), which began operating in 2018 as part of the reform of the electricity sector and the transition towards a liberalized electricity market fully integrated with the rest of Europe. HENEX manages the daily, intraday and forward electricity markets, and has been part of the Single Daily Coupling Mechanism (SDAC) since November 2020 and the Continuous Intraday Coupling (SIDC) since the end of 2022.

The Greek generation mix has experienced rapid evolution, with a progressive decrease in lignite and strong growth in solar energy and wind, in line with the decarbonization objectives of the country.

In the coming years, the Greek electricity system will move towards a more sustainable and competitive model:

At AleaSoft we have been offering services for 27 years for European electricity markets, including Greece. We provide forecasts of prices, demand and renewable production, adapted to the needs of generators, marketers, traders, investors and system operators.
