Slovakia’s electricity market is operated by OKTE, a.s., the operator of the organised electricity market and responsible for the settlement system in the country. OKTE manages the day-ahead and intraday electricity markets, and participates in the Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC) since 2016 and in the Continuous Intraday Coupling (SIDC) since 2021, which allows efficient integration with the electricity markets of Central and Eastern Europe.

Slovakia’s electricity system is managed by SEPS (Slovenská elektrizačná prenosová sústava), the transmission system operator, responsible for ensuring the stability and security of national electricity supply.

Slovakia has a low-carbon generation mix, based primarily on nuclear and hydroelectric energy, complemented by natural gas and gradual growth in solar energy and other renewable sources.

In the coming years, Slovakia’s electricity system will continue to develop:
At AleaSoft, we have been offering services to European electricity markets for 27 years, including Slovakia.
