Read more >>The electricity market in the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States is operated by PJM Interconnection, one of the largest and oldest regional transmission organizations (RTOs) in the country. PJM manages the electricity system and administers wholesale markets for energy, capacity, ancillary services, and transmission across 13 states and the District of Columbia. Its market began operating in 1997 and today represents one of the most complex and advanced structures globally.
PJM’s generation mix is diverse, with significant contributions from natural gas, nuclear, coal, and, increasingly, renewable energy sources such as solar and wind.
