The Australian NEM electricity market (National Electricity Market) commenced operations in 1998 and encompasses five regions: Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. Managed by AEMO (Australian Energy Market Operator), the NEM is one of the world’s largest wholesale electricity markets, both by its geographical extent and transaction volume.
