The Belgian electricity market is part of the integrated continental European electricity market and is coupled with major neighbouring markets via EPEX SPOT, which operates the day-ahead and intraday markets. Belgium actively participates in the Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC) and the Single Intraday Coupling (SIDC), enabling efficient price formation and regional system integration.
The Belgian electricity system boasts a diversified generation mix, including nuclear power, natural gas, wind, solar, and biomass. The transmission network is operated by Elia, the Belgian electricity system operator.
